An Oprah.com article references a recently published SWAN paper titled, “The Association of Inflammation with Premenstrual Symptoms” by Ellen B. Gold, Ph.D., Craig Wells, BA and Marianne O’Neill Rasor that appeared in a late 2016 edition of the Journal of Women’s Health. This paper reports that women with higher levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) were more likely to experience premenstrual moodiness, cramps, backaches, weight gain and bloating and breast pain.
